Artist Statement:

Scum is the crossing point where all my interests come to fruition. My original reason for attending college was to pursue a degree in environmental studies. I wasn’t very interested in environmental sciences, but wanted to work with what mattered, a subject such as the environment that was in desperate need for help. That being said, I was never fully interested in the “save the rainforest” or “plastic straw” or any other mainstream initiative; I wanted to do work with the weird and gross, with fungus and biosolids, maneuvering around marshes, and work that helped the everyman.
