Artist Statement:

My project emphasizes mental health and how small reminders can have an impact on people’s daily life. I am doing this because we are all going through something new and unknown between the Covid-19 outbreaks and the elections. This past year, many focused on everything that is wrong right now. I started this project because I felt like everyone needed some positivity. I took photos of my family and friends, and I also got photos from people on Facebook. Each person wrote a different affirmation, that they have said to themselves or say regularly. I removed faces from these images because although the writing was specific to the person holding the sign, some people could relate to the affirmation and could put themselves into the image.
