reminiscence bump"

Mar. 29 - Apr. 4, 2021

Artist Statement:

With my growing interest in art therapy, I wanted to incorporate psychology into my theme for my senior exhibit. A concept that has stuck with me from my studies in psychology is the Reminiscence Bump, the idea that older adults tend to have an increased recollection of events that happened during their adolescence and early adulthood (around 10-30 years of age). I want to relate my own interpretation of this concept through art, focused on what my peers and I are currently experiencing. Senior year of college, living through a pandemic, sporadic effects from climate change, extreme political tension, and a never-ending list of social injustices are all elements that will make 2020 a year I will never forget.
